In English
Acerola (Malpighia emarginata), also called acerola cherry, Barbados cherry or West Indian cherry, is a small, tart red fruit grown in many Puerto Rican backyards and known for its very high vitamin C content.
Juicy, tart to sweet-tart, with soft flesh and small seeds.
Eat fresh or blend the fruit or frozen pulp with water and sugar, strain and serve as acerola juice; also used in jams, sorbets and limbers.
